PrecisionLabs Optics Disclaimers & Disclosures

At PrecisionLabs Optics, we provide our readers with honest, unbiased reviews and recommendations of the optics and accessories we believe in. As part of this commitment to transparency, we want to disclose our participation in affiliate marketing programs and our product testing policies.

Amazon Affiliate Disclosure

PrecisionLabs is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. When you click on an Amazon link on our site and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission. This commission comes at no additional cost to you and helps support our work in creating in-depth optics reviews and guides.

However, our participation in the Amazon Associates program does not influence our editorial content or product recommendations. Our reviews are always based on our honest opinions and experiences with the products, not on the potential for affiliate revenue. If we don’t believe in a product, we won’t recommend it, regardless of whether it’s available on Amazon.

No Paid or Sponsored Reviews

We do not accept any form of payment or sponsorship in exchange for product reviews. We do not allow brands to influence our content by providing free products in exchange for positive coverage. If we receive a review sample from a manufacturer, we disclose that fact in the relevant review and it in no way guarantees a favorable rating. Our opinions can’t be bought.

Our Scope Testing Process

Since we manufacture optics ourselves, we use our own manufacture-grade tools and equipment to aggressively test other scopes and optics on the market. Here’s what we test:

  • Tracking and Accuracy
  • Shock and Recoil
  • Vibration Analysis
  • Thermal and Humidity Cycling
  • Immersion And Salt Fog
  • Optical Bench Testing
  • And more

Tracking and Accuracy Tests

Precise, repeatable tracking is essential for making accurate shots at any distance. We use specialized equipment to test the tracking of the scopes, making incremental elevation and windage adjustments and then measuring the point of impact. This validates that when you dial in a correction, you can trust the reticle will move exactly as much as indicated. We test the tracking at various distances and magnifications to ensure consistent performance.

If you have questions about what is covered under warranty, please contact PrecisionLabs customer service. We will work with you to determine the best solution.

Shock and Recoil Tests

For a scope to be reliable in the field, it must withstand the punishing forces of recoil from high-powered rifles. To simulate this, we mount the scopes on a controlled recoil simulation machine that subjects them to repeated shocks equivalent to thousands of rounds of fire. Afterwards, we carefully inspect each scope for any signs of damage, misalignment, or loss of zero.

Vibration Analysis

Constant vibration from movement, vehicles, and other sources can take a toll on a scope’s internals. To assess their resilience, we expose the scopes to sustained low and high frequency vibrations on all axes using specialized equipment. This helps identify any loose components or weak points in the design that could lead to failure in the field.

Thermal and Humidity Cycling

A quality scope must maintain peak performance in the scorching heat of the desert or the bitter cold of late season hunts. We place the scopes in environmental test chambers that cycle through extreme temperature and humidity ranges to verify the integrity of their seals, coatings, and nitrogen purging. Any tendency to fog or accumulate internal moisture under these grueling conditions is noted.

Immersion and Salt Fog Tests

For a scope to be truly weatherproof, it must be able to withstand complete submersion and exposure to corrosive environments. We submerge each scope for extended periods and subject them to salt fog that simulates years of hard use in coastal and marine conditions. Scopes that allow any water intrusion or show signs of rust do not make the cut.

Optical Bench Testing

Of course, a scope is only as good as the image it delivers to the shooter’s eye. To quantify optical quality, we use proven lab techniques like interferometry and MTF testing to measure lens sharpness, contrast, and aberration control. We also compare the light transmission, color fidelity, and edge-to-edge clarity of each model to establish an objective ranking.

And of course field testing, mounting, and the like. By putting every product we review through our comprehensive evaluation process, we provide you with the hard data and hands-on insights to make better, informed decisions.
